Banks of Hood River

Up Hood River...
down yellow creek. Then an exit to the highway.

So I watched rocks fly by, and cliffs turn into ice cream rivers,
evanescent like sunshine, like us.

There were mocha, caramel floods, streaks narrowed by these gray, gray eyes
piously perched next to you and I, shut tight beneath itty-bitty snores

'cause your air was always too cool to escape.

Yeah, I swallowed it all, cherry-apple cheeks myself;
spoke to breezy-gold highlights and their melancholy drive-bys.
And saw you sleep. And watched you sleep,

while every moment flew beneath Hood River.
